Determine the ‘biological’ age of ears based on the hearing threshold of a person
To determine the biological age of a person’s ears the tool compares the current hearing threshold with the statistical distribution of hearing thresholds related to age and gender (ISO 7029:2017).
This tells how many additional years need to be added to the chronological age due to exposure to high noise levels. Or, if people hear better than usual at this age, they have younger ears. This makes it much easier for professionals to explain the result of the hearing test (i.e. audiogram), motivate people to protect their ears and encourage behavioural change.
