Calculates the expected noise-induced hearing threshold shift considering age, gender and level and duration of the noise exposure.
The green curve predicts the person’s hearing threshold today. The underlying curves show the expected progression of the hearing threshold in steps of 10 years up to the maximum age of 60 (end of active career) if no hearing protection is worn.
In addition, the tool assesses the global risk on a hearing disability exceeding 40 dB (eligible for a hearing aid) at the age of 60. This fundamentally alters a person’s perception on the possible consequences and strongly motivates to wear hearing protection.
The Risk Profile is useful to positively change behaviour and motivate people to wear hearing protection.
